DPS License To Carry Course (LTC)

CLASSROOM: Five Segments - 4.5 Hour Interactive Course

1. Handgun Use and Safety
2. Weapons laws and the Use of Deadly Force
3. Non-violent Dispute Resolution
4. Safe Storage and Child Safety

RANGE QUALIFICATION: 1 to 1.5 Hours 

1. Safety Briefing
2. Course of Fire at 3 Yards  
3. Course of Fire at 7 Yards
4. Course of Fire at 15 Yards
5. Weapons check before leaving the Range

WE REQUIRE OUR STUDENTS TAKE BOTH ELEMENTS OF THE LTC COURSE (Classroom & Range Proficiency) FROM US. 

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING ANY FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION INTO THE CLASSROOM FOR THIS COURSE 

INTERACTIVE, PERSONAL CLASSROOM TRAINING

The classroom portion of our training is conducted in our classroom facilities in Del Valle and Bastrop.  

GT LTC RANGE QUALIFICATION

All students receive a personalized course of fire evaluation to take with upon completion.  This evaluation points out areas in which the student excelled and areas in need of correction and training.

WHAT TO BRING

FIREARMS: .22 Caliber is the smallest caliber permitted to qualify in an LTC Class. All weapons must be clean, properly lubricated and in good operating order for their use to qualify. All weapons will be inspected prior to use at the Range. Please bring a Tea Towel or Pistol Shooting Mat for your weapon and ammunition.

AMMUNITION: All ammunition used must be listed on the Sporting Arms Ammunition Manufacturing Institute List, (saami.org), i.e., Federal, PMC, Remington, and Winchester to name a few.  No Re-Loads are Permitted for Liability Reasons. The course calls for 50 rounds. Please bring additional rounds in the event of malfunctions or failures. 

Bring adequate eye and ear protection: Appropriate range clothing and footwear is required; long pants, no open toed shoes or sandals, close toed shoes or boots, sneakers are fine weather permitting. No tank tops or pullover shirts or blouses with scooped necks. Short sleeve t- shirts with rounded necks are fine. Wear clothing that keeps hot brass from finding a resting place.  Headgear: billed baseball caps, boonies are acceptable.
